star lifecycle
There are billions of stars in the universe. The whole universe is manly made up of stars. The same stars have not just been around since the big bang, stars can be born and stars can die. Stars have lifecycles but there are two different lifecycles a star can take.
All stars start out as nebula. A nebula is a large cloud of gas and dust. Gravity can pull some of the gas and dust in a nebula together.
The contracting cloud is then called a protostar(It can be low-mass/medium-mass or high-mass), which is the earliest stage of a stars life. A star is born when the gas and dust from a nebula become so hot that nuclear fusion starts. This is called a main sequence star. When the main sequence star runs out of hydrogen fuel, the star becomes a red giant (when low/medium mass) or a supergiant (high mass star).

After a low or medium mass star has become a red giant the outer parts grow bigger and drift into space, forming a cloud of gas called a planetary nebula. the blue white hot core of the star is left behind cools and becomes a white dwarf. The white dwarf eventually runs out of fuel and dies as a black dwarf.
A dying red super giant star can suddenly explode. The explosion is called a supernova. The left overs of the explosion may form a neutron star. They are remains of high mass stars. The most massive stars become black holes when they die.

The Hertzsprung-Russel diagram states that the temperature of a star on the horizontal axis of the chart and absolute brightness on the vertical axis. The table gives value for over 50 stars.
Black hole
A black hole is anything but empty space. It is a great amount of matter packed into a very small area, like a star 10 times bigger than the sun squeezed into a sphere about the size of New York City. It is a gravitational field so strong that nothing, not even light can escape. Black holes are the most fascinating things in space.
Black holes are formed by huge high mass stars which have exploded in a supernova and created by the left overs. Even bigger black holes can result from stellar collisions.
